I sang

I sang today
I sang with friends
That made me feel so good
After more than a year
Of being in a bad mood
Today I sang with friends

The sun shone
The sun shone like it hadn't in months
Shone in the cold and brought some warmth
Melted the snow that I thought would never go
Today the sun shone

Today I'm glad
Glad that the sun still shines
Glad that today, it's here for about few more minutes
Glad that it brings some gladness with it

So I wrote
Even though writing was reserved for darker times
Writing about the bright rays
Writing that may be inspired by caffeine

And a glass of off-season mulled wine

I choose to write
Write my way to clarity
Write my way back to sanity
Write my way back to finding me

It might be bad
But bad is how I've always thought it is
Badly put together and incomplete
But that's not how all others think it is

On my part
A good distraction... a way of balancing
How things are and how they should be
Not just for me but all that's around

It's not all I wanted but it's close
That it's done right
But not necessarily perfectly
That's the beauty of it I suppose

Writing Poems

writing poems changed my life
writing poems cleared my mind
writing poems made me friends
writing poems met some ends
Writing poems got me some cheques
writing poems made me stop
Writing poems
Got me to the point where
I can't write anymore

I stopped writing,
I stopped putting pen to paper,
Structure to thought,
Stopped creating clauses for words...
I felt nothing,
Nothing for the habit,
Breaking that that was formed.
But today I felt it,
Something I recognized from before,
A spark in the fog,
A current and a flow,
A few words...
to open up the way for more
